Trim, Molding & Wainscoting
The details that turn a builder-grade box into a home.
The Craft
Trim is the quiet architecture of a room — crown, casing, base, and paneling that frame every wall and doorway. It's also where shortcuts show fastest. We mill to the right proportions, fit each corner tight, and finish so the woodwork reads as one continuous, intentional line around the room.
How We Work
From first visit to final fit
Consult
We start on-site — listening to how you live in the space, taking careful measurements, and understanding what you want it to become.
Design
We turn it into clear drawings and material selections, so you can see and sign off on every detail before a board is cut.
Build
Each piece is crafted by hand with the joinery the job calls for — measured twice, built once, and checked at every step.
Install
We fit, scribe, and finish on-site so the final result looks like it was always part of the home.
Materials & Joinery
Built from the right stuff
The materials and methods we reach for on a project like this.
- Solid wood and clear, finger-joint-free stock for paint and stain grade
- Custom-milled profiles to match historic trim or create something new
- Frame-and-panel wainscoting that floats to allow seasonal wood movement
- Coped inside corners and tight, glued miters at every return
- Crown, picture rail, box beams, board-and-batten, and raised paneling
- Hand-caulked and finished for a seamless, painted-in-place look
The Details
Where the craftsmanship shows
Coped corners, not caulk-and-pray
Inside corners are coped — one piece scribed to the profile of the next — so the joint stays tight even as the house moves with the seasons.
Proportion that fits the room
Ceiling height, window size, and the home's era all set the right scale for trim. We size the profiles so the woodwork feels designed, never tacked on.
Panels built to move
Wainscot and raised panels float within their frames, the traditional way, so the wood can expand and contract without cracking the finish.

Common Questions
Good to know
Can you match the trim in an older home?
Yes — we can replicate an existing profile by milling custom knives so additions and repairs disappear into the original woodwork.
What's the difference between wainscoting and board-and-batten?
Both are paneled wall treatments. Wainscot is typically framed panels with rails and stiles; board-and-batten is a cleaner grid of flat boards and battens. We'll suggest what suits your space.
Do you paint the trim too?
We install paint-ready and can finish in place, or coordinate with your painter for a flawless final coat.
